BRC Families: Our Attendance Carnival was an unforgettable day filled with games, prizes, laughter, and fun for our students! Students earned tickets by coming to school each day, and this was their chance to roam around with friends and spend their tickets on carnival games, farm animals, the dunk tank, face painting, and giant inflatable activities. There was excitement everywhere you looked!
We are so thankful for the staff, volunteers, and community partners who helped make this attendance celebration such a huge success for our students.

BRC Families: Our 2nd–5th grade students showed off their amazing talents at the talent show! They had the audience laughing, smiling, and participating in their acts. We are so proud of the confidence, creativity, and bravery our students displayed on stage. We hope this event inspires more students to step out of their comfort zones and try out for next year’s talent show!
BRC Families: Congratulations to our 5th graders for their hard work, growth, and accomplishments throughout their years at Blue Ridge! As you begin your middle school journey, always remember that Blue Ridge will be cheering you on and wishing you the very best. Please bring your driver’s license and arrive 10 minutes early to find your station and get familiar with your activity.

Items are priced differently, giving students the chance to practice decision-making by choosing whether to save their tokens or spend them on smaller prizes.

BRC Families: Get ready for two great nights of student performances! Join us for our Chorus Concert on Monday, May 18th. Then come back on Thursday, May 21st for our Talent Show—doors open at 6:45 and the show begins at 7:00 PM in the elementary building. We hope you can join us to support our talented students!
BRC Families: Our fourth grade students will be performing on their recorders on Friday, May 15th in the elementary building. Ms. Fraim’s class will perform from 9:15–10:00, followed by Mrs. Ruelo’s class from 10:15–11:00.

CANVAS UPDATE: 5/8/2026
Canvas was down the evening of Thursday, May 7, 2026, due to a reported data breach. Early reports indicate this impacts over 8,000+ public schools, colleges, and institutions across the country. JCS is an impacted organization.
Indications so far are that the information involved includes student/staff names, JCS/WVDE-issued student/staff ID numbers (not social security numbers), email addresses, and messages between users on the platform.
JCS has no evidence of a compromise to internal district systems. Our Technology Team is actively assessing impact and implementing precautionary safeguards.

These students have their picture taken and displayed in both buildings and are also featured on our school website. At the end of the month, selected students and their families are invited to a pizza party with administration to celebrate!
We are so proud of our students and love celebrating the positive impact they make in our school each day!
BRC Families: Ms. Terry, Ms. Hazy, and Mrs. Ashman took a schoolwide tour—joined by DJ Mr. Creech, who brought “Rock This Test” to every classroom with his giant speaker! Students were on their feet—smiling, dancing, and getting excited for testing—as pencils and bracelets were handed out along the way. The energy was high from start to finish, and the tour wrapped up with encouraging words from Ms. Terry. Our students are READY to ROCK the test—we can’t wait to see them shine!
BRC Families: Don’t forget—our PTO meeting is tomorrow, Tuesday, May 5th at 5:00 PM in the Primary Cafeteria! We’ll be discussing Teacher Appreciation Week, voting on the 2026–2027 PTO Board, and sharing upcoming volunteer opportunities. We’d love to see you there!
