Leadership

On September 30th, Dr. Bishop, our county superintendent, shared about the importance of leadership to our Paw-sitive Peer Leaders during lunch. These student leaders are made up of 19 fifth grade students who want to make a difference in their school. This group is organized by Ms. Tucker, our school counselor, and Mrs. Saxe, our Communities in Schools Facilitator. Our Paw-sitive Peer Leaders meet once a week during lunch to share ideas for their school and support one another in their roles as student leaders.

During his visit, Dr. Bishop spoke on the qualities of a leader including why he became a superintendent, what a day looks like in his shoes, and the important decision-making that goes into the job. Our student leaders then had the chance to ask questions about his role. Some questions surrounded his education and organization strategies, while others were more personal, such as his pets and hobbies.

Fifth grade student Leo Morales shared, "I really enjoyed hearing Dr. Bishop speak because I learned how hard you have to work to become a superintendent and you have very little free time."

Thank you, Dr. Bishop, for taking time out of your busy schedule to speak to our leadership group!
