RANSON, W.Va. -- The staff at Jefferson Medical Center helped students with the start of school by hosting a school supplies drive. Development Director for WVU Hospitals East Foundation Deborah Crites said it was a team effort.
"People could come and contribute however they could, which we truly appreciated. Supplying the school supplies for all different ages for students in Jefferson County was important to us.”
From August 1 through August 5, the staff at Jefferson Medical Center donated school supplies like notebooks, folders, crayons, and markers for students in elementary and secondary schools throughout Jefferson County. Crites said people enjoyed giving back and supporting kids in the community.
"We're happy to support the Jefferson County School system and wish everyone a happy and healthy school year."
The first day back for students in Jefferson County is August 22. Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg hosted a similar school supply drive for students in Berkeley County. The WVU Hospitals East Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising private funds to support patient care and comfort at Berkeley Medical Center and Jefferson Medical Center as well as supporting health initiatives to benefit community members.
