Fifteen choral students represented Jefferson County Schools (JCS) in this year's WV All-State Children's Chorus at the annual West Virginia Music Educators Association (WVMEA) Conference. The group included students from Blue Ridge, Driswood, and Shepherdstown Elementary Schools, Wright Denny Intermediate School, and Charles Town and Shepherdstown Middle Schools.
Preparation for the event began in the fall as students learned and practiced seven musical compositions with their school's choral director. The selections included one piece sung in a foreign language, offering students an additional challenge.
The six ensembles joined choral students statewide in Charleston to comprise the 2024 West Virginia All-State Children's Chorus. As a group, they spent two days in early March polishing their musical selections under the direction of professional guest choral director Ken Berg. The event concluded with an evening concert at the Charleston Civic Center, where students showcased their talent and hard work.
