BRE families,

Hope everyone is ready for the weekend!
It’s been a busy week here at school, and we’re looking forward to another great week ahead. Please take a moment to review our newsletter for important updates and upcoming events.

Today, we had to place both buildings on a HOLD, which means students remained in their classrooms and stayed out of the hallways. This was necessary while paramedics attended to a medical situation involving a student. We’re happy to report that the student is doing well, and we look forward to welcoming them back to school on Monday.

Thank you for your understanding and support.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Good Evening,

I want to take a moment to share how excited we are to welcome our three remaining teachers to the team:

Ms. Fernandez-Logarta – 5th Grade
Mr. Lee Magbanua – 3rd Grade
Ms. Abigail Reyes – 1st Grade

They will be stopping by tomorrow afternoon to meet their students, and their first full day will be this Friday. Each of them will also be reaching out to parents to introduce themselves personally.

We are thrilled to have them join our school community and look forward to the wonderful contributions they will bring to their classrooms.

BRE Families,

I hope this message finds you well.

As part of our ongoing commitment to student safety and preparedness, we conducted two important practice drills this morning:

Fire Drill – This drill helps ensure that students and staff know how to evacuate the building quickly and safely in case of an emergency.

Lockdown Drill – This drill is designed to prepare our school community for situations that require us to secure the building and remain in place.

Please note that these are practice drills only, and there is no cause for concern. Our goal is to help students feel confident and prepared, and we will guide them through each step with care and reassurance.

If you have any questions or concerns about these drills, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Thank you for your continued support in keeping our school safe.

Warm regards,
Sybil Terry

We were so excited to kick off our first school assembly today with a special presentation from NED, which stands for:

Never Give Up
Encourage Others
Do Your Best

The NED Show shared a powerful message about perseverance, kindness, and striving for excellence — and our students truly enjoyed the experience!
As part of the NED program, students now have the opportunity to purchase a yo-yo, which not only supports their learning and fun but also helps fund future NED assemblies in other schools. It’s a great way for our students to give back and support the wider school community.
A flyer with purchase information will be sent home in your child’s backpack. Please note: we can only accept CASH payments — no checks, please.
We’re looking forward to more exciting events and meaningful learning experiences ahead!

Blue Ridge Families,

I hope this message finds you well as we are a few weeks into the school year and beginning to hit our stride. We hope you have gotten into a good rhythm at home as well. Our top priorities remain student safety and achievement, and I am committed to working closely with you to ensure that every child has the support and opportunities they need to succeed.

Moving forward, you will continue to see regular updates from us on student learning, opportunities to engage, and ways to share your positive input in our Blue Ridge Newsletter that is sent home every two weeks. We want our school to be a place where families feel connected and informed, because together, we create the strongest foundation for our students' growth.

This year, we are welcoming five new teachers who are joining our staff later in the fall. We are excited about the expertise and energy they will bring to our classrooms. We understand that this is not the ideal scenario, and we are working diligently to ensure that all of our classes are covered and that students will not experience any learning gaps. Below are some updates about incoming teachers.

Pre-K – Ibtissem Abdelkader, will join us on September 23.
1st Grade - Ms. Harris joined us on September 5.
1st Grade – Abigail Reyes, anticipated start is early October
3rd Grade – Leomarie Magbanua, anticipated start is early October
5th Grade- Rode Logarta, anticipated start is early October

Jefferson County Schools' Human Resources and Communications Departments are actively recruiting a School Counselor through advertising and personal outreach. They continue to work to fill vacancies for needed specialists for all of our students. The Special Programs team is working to ensure that students receive their services and offer compensatory time as required.

We are confident that, with your partnership, this will be a year of great progress for our students. Please look for upcoming invitations to family events and communications from your child's teachers. If you ever have questions, concerns, or ideas, please reach out—we value your voice.

Thank you,

Dr. Chuck Bishop, Superintendent

Dear BRE Families,
Tonight is our first PTO Meeting. It will begin at 5:30 in the Primary Cafeteria. We will have Volunteer Training after PTO. Beginning in October, PTO meetings will be held on Tuesday so they do not conflict with the Board Meetings. Tonight Administration will be both at the PTO meeting and the Board Meeting.

Dear BRE Families,
We have our first PTO meeting on Monday, September 8th at 5:30 in the Primary Cafeteria. Immediately following, we will hold out First Volunteer Training of the 2025-2026 school year. All parents who wish to volunteer in their child's classroom must attend the training. This training is also needed for Field Day in May.
GREAT NEWS... if you participated in the training last year, you do not have to come to volunteer training this year. All you have to do is complete all paperwork again. I will be sending it home with your child. You will receive it by the end of September.
Hope to see you on Monday.

Dear BRE Parents and Guardians,

After thoughtful consideration, we’ve decided not to hold separate meetings for sharing concerns and ideas. Instead, we warmly invite you to bring your thoughts, questions, and suggestions to our regular PTO meetings.

These meetings are a great opportunity to stay informed, collaborate, and engage in meaningful conversations that support our school community. Your voice matters, and we believe integrating these discussions into our existing PTO structure will foster a more inclusive and efficient dialogue.

We look forward to seeing you there and hearing your valuable input!

Warm regards,
